Went to change the oil in the GS today, brand new filter and oil, the manual says it needs 5.5-5.7 quarts of oil. So I added 5.5 checked it, and the dipstick is bone dry, then I let the car idle and it gets to operating temp, I check again. Still, bone dry, I add the rest of the quart to make exaclty 6 quarts of oil, I check the oil again. STILL BONE DRY. Nothing on the dipstick, I am really worried at this point, I have checked the oil previously like with no problems and always gave me a reading, and no all of a sudden when I check the stick, its just bone dry? There are no leaks whatsoever so what in the world would cause this?!?!

No I actually just add oil down the intake, and the other quart in the gas tank man... have no idea.
OF COURSE I PUT IT IN THE RIGHT SPOT. Anyway, for some reason the dip stick read my oil level after I added roughly 7 quarts... I didn't want to add TO much oil, cause running to much oil is worse than low oil, but after 7 quarts I got a reading, all the way to the full line on the top dot on the dip stick... so strange that it did that after the manual only calls for 5.7 quarts of oil. Problem solved i guess...
someone put a wrong dipstick in your car?
I have 2001 430... if you have 430, I can go check the length of my dipstick.
mine takes little less than 6 quarts, seems a bit odd, that yours take that much.
