GS400 tranny vs GS430 tranny
So I have a gs430 and drove my girls 98 gs4 and noticed the tranny on the gs4 shifts much quicker from park or reverse into drive. With the gs430 everytime I shift to drive there is like a one to two second delay until it actually shifts. I'm pretty sure Lexus changed the tranny to make it more refined less sporty but wanted to see if everyone's was like this or is it just mine. Thanks CL

They all use the same transmission, aside from some minor differences between the ones used on the I6 and V8. There are probably programming differences in the ECU that account for the different feel.

I feel like you may be right. Since I read somewhere that Lexus purposely made the car less agressive and more luxury but I want to hear some other 430 owners say there's is the same because otherwise maybe something's wrong with mine?

.
It definitely has to be because the difference is like driving two different cars and Lexus did make it less sporty but why a delayed shift I think that's so dumb. Maybe to take away the lunging foward that happens in a cold start? I would love to find someone who has a gs430 that also hesitates so I know it's normal at least

What exactly is a function of the valve body pardon my ignorance. And I have reset the ecu plenty of times in the past by disconnecting the battery a few hours but I will try it again and report back

Aha that explains the difference. Thanks man. Just another part LEXUS changed like bastards to probably cut costs. Just like the exhaust manifold was downgraded to a cheaper part which went bad on me and never ever goes bad on a gs4 because of the design. And I confirmed this by looking on sewell and the prices and photos. I wonder what else they changed to save money or make the car less sporty. Damn them.
