Default CPO Questions

When you purchased a CPO car, did you get any special documentation showing it was a CPO car? If all goes well, I should be picking up my new (to me at least) 1999 Cinnabar GS400!

Just wanted to make sure I got everything I should get. Also, is the CPO warranty transferrable?

Thanks!

The sticker window will say if the vehicle is a CPO or not and the warranty is not transferrable.

Default Yes... Documents, No....Transfer

I purchased my Lexus from an individual who purchased the car CPO from a Lexus dealer. There was a Certified Certificate in with the owners manual booklet and a CPO sticker on the front door pillar next to the dash.

No... the CPO warranty is non- transferrable. Believe me, I called the dealership which sold the car to my seller, and they confirmed that info, but were very upfront and helpful with all the service history on the car.

BLW:

Thanks for the pictures! The car I am getting was fresh off the truck and had yet to undergo the certification process. I went to the dealership today and snapped some pics of it, they were doing the certification process at the time and replaced the vinyl pinstripes with hand painted ones. Here are a few pics, no spoiler and 16" rims, not the ideal configuration but I can "make do" with it.

They still have to touch up some rock chips, but they didn't want to do it in the rainy weather that we currently have. I might have to wait till Monday to take delivery

Default Your Welcome

Stealther

You are welcome for the picts. I like your car, cinnabar was one of my color choices when I was looking to purchase my GS. I certainly hope that you enjoy your car as much as I have enjoyed mine.

What part of Texas are you located and which dealer are you purchasing from?

CPO is B.S.! My car was CPO, but had ton of problems afterwards... My GS400 was missing a speaker (tweeter) in driver side, amp was really messed up (making weird noises), car was shaking at over 80mph, only had only one Key to give me... and many many many more... on top of all this crap... when they serviced my car, they only offered a piece of crap Volvo as a loaner. (And they charged me for it, and then said they made a mistake, after I brought in my credit card statement) I had to take it in for service three times! And the dealership is like 65 miles from my home at the time. MAN if they weren't selling LEXUS I would never do business with them again. On top of all that, they had very bad service. When I sent in a very bad customer service survey, they contacted me a sent me a check for 100 dollars. This wasn't mearly enough for all the aggravation.
I aslo suspect my car was in a minor accident!

CPO? The correct word is USED. No matter what kind of stickers is put on it you will never know what you are getting yourself into. I will never again in my life turst the letters. C.P.O. USED, USED and oh ya USED. Not worth the trouble IMO.

About the only thing CPO is good for is an extended warranty. That's it.

Bit is right. The only really good thing about CPO is the extended warranty. I think it varies from dealer to dealer, and its not uniform if the dealers do all the "required" inspection and repairs. I got my CPO GS400 with a few problems even though it went through the 129 point check.

Check the thread on 'Milage Check...Is 60K high'. There's a little disscussion about CPO. In general, it will be up to you to inspect everything you can about the car while under the extended warranty. The dealers just tack on $700-$1500 on top of the price to give you the extended warranty.

BTW the CPO comes with a warranty booklet. A warranty card is inside that the dealer fills out with all the info about the car (date sold, milage etc). and other info including the maintenance intervals for the 'new to you' maintenance book. That's the only proof that you have that its a CPO and have the extended warranty. It's probably also on their network computer system.

I spoke to someone involved with the CPO program and he said they did make sure the car had had its scheduled maintenance at least which is good. Probably varies from dealer to dealer as Arty said.
