ok So I have had a grill for a while that I have been deciding what to do with and have come up with an idea. its a fiberglass thing from somewhere in japan that came with my half cut and I love the way its sits and looks as it has a protruding thick top band and really gives the bonnet a different look. so my plays are to have it vinyl wrapped in chrome then im going to make a KAZZ style insert out of polished stainless bar. I'm thinking something around 12mm x 3mm

Whats peoples thoughts

 

I think the grille looks fine as is and vinyl wrapping it in chrome and adding an insert would look tacky... just my opinion though. If you want to try it then go for it since you could always remove the vinyl if you don't like it. Do what makes you happy bro.

Don't like it as it is and propably won't like it after the mods.

It's just a really old pic mate with old wheels, high ride height and non turbo

 

Its not bad, but I think it would look better if you had a front lip and remove the hood ornament.

i would use this type of mesh. instead of chicken wire.

 

Where can one find this mesh?

 

i double mesh'd mine. heard that people were saying the factory mesh you could too easily see through. so i used cheap gutter guard from the hardware store and had 2 layers.

Ok so my stainless arrived today and I have cut it to length.
Now my next decision is
1. lay it all flat
2. Lay the center flat and and the slats on their sides
3. same as 2 but tilt them down on a 30 degree angle

Once I have decided ill polish to a mirror finish and weld together. I will also mesh behind it so it looks clean looking through

E for effort... Last pic with the bars facing thin looks better but that center bar isnt flowing. You'll need to have these spaced evenly centered or it will all look bad.

I can put the center slat on its side as well and mill slots in it so they are all flush at the front

 

i agree, the center bar looks out of place. I'm in this all the way though, seems like a fun project and I want to see the outcome!
