Why does my GS have big gaps between doors?
Why does the GS have big gaps between the front and the rear doors?
Especially along the bottom half, its just plain ugly.
I thought smooth and even lines were part of the Lexus image.
Also, anyone ever notice that the new Hyundai's have the best body fit in the industry. They managed to get their body panels to fit perfectly and evenly with the thinnest gaps.

umm... wait, what gaps... pics?
i wash my car every week and i don't recall any exceptional big gaps.... the gap between front and rear door is very decenly sized, and it's even all the way from top to bottom

I think it's because of the plastic moulding. I don't think you can manufacture plastic mouldings to the kind of tight tolerances you can with metal or aluminum. That's probably why you see the larger gaps at the lower part of the doors.

I'm sure the doors on the GS are properly "gapped." I always thought there was that gap there so the DOORS COULD OPEN, given the thickness of them. either that or aerodynamics. i have NEVER stressed about door panel gaps. GS4to4, how many minutes a day do you spend wondering about this? just curious if its something that plagues you, on a day to day basis.

Hey - this may be the seed of a great new mod idea!
Anybody that is bothered by the gap between the doors (I haven't noticed that myself) want to volunteer?
My idea - get some bondo or quality body filler (no knock-off body filler, please) and fill in the gap. While you're at it IMO I'd do the front gap of the door as well just to be thorough... and probably behind the rear door.
A little bit of sanding, primer and a shot of paint - NO GAP!
We can use that feature where you hold down the unlock button and it rolls down the windows to help when we (and passengers) want to get in the car. Auto rolldown feature on all windows will also make getting out a snap!
I'll shoot an email off to some of the experts in doing stuff like this (picture of their car below) to see if we can get some advise and make this dream a reality.

I'll post about whatever I want, if you don't like it don't read it and don't respond.
All I'm saying is, a $50,000 Lexus shouldn't have this. The LS has the best fit and finish out there, and I just wish the GS would be up to that level

Remember the add when they put the rolling ball on the Lexus to show how small the gaps were. An independent study proved it was no fluke and the gaps were some, if the the smallest in the industry.
How about a pic of the gap on your GS and not on the Lexus website?
Hell, I guess I'll take DaveGS4s idea and turn my GS into THE GENERAL LEE!!!
