try to disconnect the light sensor on the dash, see if that work, if I was not wrong, the little black sensor on the dash, the driver side / or maybe the other side, i have to check, but one of those is the light sensor

Cover up the light sensor on the dash? Maybe a tiny piece of electrical tape. If you do this, the brightness will never self-adjust.

i can tell ya if you fiddle around with the battery wires long enuff you will kill your dash lights all together and youll wonder how much gas you have. then one day youll look and say "Holy crap i have dash lights again"

really tho why would you change it?

If he does that I think he'll get the opposite effect of what I think he wants (brighter gauges at night).

Yes, I know, which is why I stated what I stated, to possibly clarify the effects of disabling the dimmer.

I guess, we shjould all be asking Rock, what is it you hope to accomplish?

Brighter or dimmer?

I don't know about Rock, but I want mine to be brighter (so I hope that is what he's trying to accomplish ). At night the gauges in my GS get TOO dim for my taste, and the center gauge especially seems dimmer than the others.

are we driving the same cars? i could land a jet using my dash lights at night. I keep mine turned down to less than 1/2 of full light. You really dont want to brighten your gauges to much, it is a VERY dangerous thing to do, it can cause lots of vision issues while driving at night....

No, we aren't . Mine are way too dim, an airplane would simply circle until it ran out of fuel looking for the landing strip.

If you'll do a search, you'll find a number of old threads where some folks GS' tend to have too-dim dash lights after the auto dimmer kicks in - others don't seem to have that problem (lucky you!). If they are too bright on the daytime setting, I'd just turn them down like you do with yours today.

I'll try to snap a picture of mine at night (no flash) tonight.

Good one Dave!

Maybe we could hook up a bling-bling LED a couple mm away from the photo sensor to blind it? LOL
