Default LED tail lamps

I'm thinking of replacing the tail lamps in my white 2002 GS3.

Would you guys go with the smoked design? http://www.ebay.com/itm/SMOKE-LENS-LED-TRUCK-TAIL-LIGHTS-SET-for-LEXUS-GS300-GS400-GS430-/321222246198?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AGS300%7CMake%3ALexus&hash=item4aca567f36&vxp=mtr#vi-ilComp
Or the red design? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-2005-LEXUS-GS300-GS430-R-C-LED-TAIL-TRUNK-LIGHTS-/300939535421?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AGS300%7CMake%3ALexus&hash=item461164e43d&vxp=mtr

I'd go with teal.

It's your car, go with what you like. You don't need our permission hehe. Personally I think the red ones would look factory and clean on a white car. From what I've seen on the road, smoked LED stuff looks too off or 'added on later' kind of thing. Not bad, not as good either. On the right car/shape/color it can work though (like maybe a grey/silver/black car).

Haha, of course I don't need permission. Just looking for some expert advice from the knowledgeable people on this forum :-)

Thanks for your suggestion. I'm thinking the red would look better as well.

I would pass on both. Either go with the Depot LED tails or 01+ OEM's IMO.

screw OEM, they look great parked but IMO it really shows the age of the car when they illuminate. I would get the red, you can always tint it later and remove it if you don't like it.

Use a chrome 7440 bulb for the signal to kill the egg-yolk effect, or just lightly dust your amber bulbs with silver engine enamel spraypaint, and they will still illuminate amber.

You can't beat the look of the LED's at night time, and it's funny to see into the car behind you in your mirror when you're at a light. I've seen a tailgater put his sun visor down because he was too close to them.

Oem 01+ tails and depos are the best period, unless he goes for Bragas, which will require a checkbook...

OEM must be expensive....is there an issue with aftermarket I should be aware of?

don't you already have the ones he suggested? you can power polish them just like your headlights if they are faded.

Fading is not an issue. I just like look of the aftermarket LED lights that are available.

These are the Depo LEDs that you want... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-2005-Lexus-GS300-GS400-GS430-LED-Tail-Lights-RED-CLEAR-DEPO-4-PCS-/161113190986?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AGS300&hash=item258318324a&vxp=mtr
The ones you posted have the "big" clear lens and don't look as good as the Depos. Depos have a good reputation for quality lights. Here's mine...

You say do they make led tails for 01+ of course they do, then u talk about OEM tail differences, your misleading in your post, what does aftermarket tails have to do with OEM 98-2000/2000-2005, their are no special new led tail lights for ONLY 01-05 Aftermarket Led tails are ALL made for 98-05 their is no in-between they are aftermarket for a reason, they are compatible for all models with the same connector, their is only one plug... 98-00 oem tail lights are different than 01+... 2001+ oem tails fit 98-00 connectors except for the reverse light needs spliced and tied in to the tails to your wires from the trunk...

I wish they did! I know of another member on here that was getting some custom 01+ taillights made into LED's. He never came back with an update and hardly comes on here anymore.

The depo tail lights resistors tend to over heat and potentially become a fire hazard. (Known problem) I just yanked mine out because they were burning through my fabric.
