Question Two Questions

I HAVE A 2003 GS 430 LOADED. I HAVE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS I WOULD LIKE ANSWERED.

1. DO YOU'ALL THINK IT WOULD BE OK TO PLAY CD'S THAT HAVE BEEN COPIED FROM ANOTHER CD'S? THE OWNERS MANUAL SEEM'S TO SAY NO.
2. IS THERE ANYWAY THAT WHEN YOU STOP AND TURN THE ENGINE OFF, PULL THE KEY, THAT ALL DOORS WILL UNLOCK.
3. IF I HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THE LOCK PROBLEM WILL HE CHARGE. THE CAR HAS ONLY 1000 MILES.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP.
BEST REGARDS.......BOB

Default Two questions

1) You can play recorded cds with no problem. They are indistinguishable to your factory system, unless recorded in MP3 or some other compression format. My only advice would be to use ones from a reputable manufacturer (TDK, Maxell, etc), as some of the "Brand X" ones can have problems due to poor quality.

2) I believe the car does not unlock when turning off the ignition for safety reasons. Your dealer should not charge you for confirming this, nor should they charge you if I am wrong and the car can be programmed otherwise. A good Lexus dealer (and most of them are) will do small freebies when you first buy the car to make sure you confirm you are 100% satisfied whenever Lexus has you fill out the customer satisfaction surveys.

It's not as if your CD player will eat copied CDs; give it a try.

As far as the lock problem:
1) Most dealers will spot you one CBEST adjustment, and your 1K service would be a good time to get it done but
2) if the doors lock, you are then locked in your car with the security system enabled; you'll have to unlock the driver's door to get out and when you open the door, your security system will activate. And then you'd have to lock the door again once you are out!!

Feel free not to use "CAPS LOCK"; we'll all respond just as fast to lower case typing.......

Welcome to CL; you've got the finest Lex in the line!!

Here is a link to the C-best options. No charge for the dealer to make these changes.

BTW, typing in all CAPS is considered shouting.

Red face

I'm an idiot (or illiterate).......saw "UNLOCK" and read "LOCK".

Either age, too many rocks in the pipe this morning or maybe I just need new glasses. Anyway, no problem with unlocking. My GS is programmed to function precisely as you describe except that the doors unlock when I put the car in "PARK".

Doh.
