GS Wheel Bearing - Where's the locking Ring?
2000 Gs400 140k miles, stock.
My FRONT bearing noise is coming back badly now. Drives like its on rims. Shop probably had no idea about the tension/gap thing and i guess just slap it in and call it a day. I remember when I took the spindle off I COULDN'T see any LOCKING RING. Check the outside hub view, nothing. Check the inside view I can see the bearing right there but NO LOCKING RING. This time I ain't spending $400 for labor. Buying myself a 20 ton shop press for less than half of that and doing it myself. Did a search and no luck about the LOCKING RING. Lets say I got the spindle off the vehicle.
Where's the locking ring? and HOW do you take it out?
Got a picture here(if its the correct one) but still couldn't figure it out how to remove the locking ring.

#6 is the lock ring. I have replaced the wheel bearing on mine before. I have a complete other set too for my other side. You will need a very very heavy duty snap ring pliers set or a bit needle nose pliers with very small ends to remove it. Keep in mind you also must replace the oil seal, and nut once you remove the old ones these are one time use parts. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions on the job.
