Default wheel bearing

I started to hear a grind in my rear wheel and was wondering if I have to replace my rear wheel hub or can I just replace my bearing?? It is a 93 sc300

I am in the same boat as you, recently did my front LCA and noticed a binding in the hub when turned by hand. Yes you can change out the bearing but you will need at least a 10 ton press to remove the bearings and get the new ones in. I am checking to see if the dealer sells the complete hub assemble but I know it will be pricey. It will likely cost a good bit to get a shop to do it for you too.
I am thinking about getting a set from my local junk yard and getting a shop to press out the old one and install the new ones. All new bearing and parts per wheel is about $110.00 each, add labor to that and you can see that is gonna be expensive.
There is a write up here on this site on how to do it but you have to get access to a press.
I will post what route I take on this.

Cost depends on the shop you choose, with labor charges from $40 to $100 an hour and about 2 hours per hub plus parts can easily set you back $400 to $800.
I am thinking about buying a Press from Harbor Freight Tools for about $100 and do all 4 hubs myself. All parts should be about $450 + the press should be about $600 for all 4. I will get some quotes form a couple of shops in my area to get and estimate and go from there.

I would just replace the whole hub. And whatever you do go with a good hub/bearing. SKF, NTN, NSK or National are the best bearings and only used by OEM company's around the world.

Yes I thought about that but I can't find anyone selling the complete assembled hub. The hub knuckle, spindle and all related bearing and other parts adds up to about $450 per wheel. Even if you find a complete hub assemble it would be cost about $500 each.
I will do some more digging to find other options/solutions.

I cant find a write up for the rear hub but I think it would be almost the same as the front, though it will be more involved. You have to remove the axles and parking brake setup.
I checked 2 local shops in my area and got quotes from $50 to $125 to remove and press in the new bearings if I take the parts and hubs.

I got a front set from a SC400 a local junkyard and will be ordering the bearings and other parts. I will have my local machine shop do the work of replacing the bearings. Estimate of $80. for the pair. That is the route I am going.
