1. if you changed your alternator, then your alternator should be fine.. The problem will have to start somewhere else.. Get a voltameter and check to see if you have the proper wattage on your battery.. (car off = 12V, car on = 13 or 14V)

2. The vibrations in your steering wheel are solely caused from uneven rotors. If your wheel was unbalanced, you would feel vibrations regardless of stepping on the brake. (Rotors can be resurfaced, or you can just buy new ones)

ps: if you don't have a voltameter, you can get it checked at pep boys or something, for free.

Good luck with your issues my friend. Read around once you pinpointed what you think it may be. This site really helps save big $$$. Check your battery for voltage reading like others said. Also, vibrations can be a multitude of things. Brake pads, rotors, tires, possible damaged rims, suspension + alignment issues. Check em all 1 by 1., If you don't have the knowledge it skills to do so, just take it to a mechanic. Firestones around my way are really helpful.

1) why do you say your alternator is bad. please specify the problem you are having that leads you to belive its the alternator

2) most of the time when u have a bent wheel or unbalanced wheel or even a warpped tire your car/steering wheel will schake at diffrent speeds if ur problem is just when you step on the brake sounds to like its urs rotors wich are warpped u can get those resufaced for cheap if u have enough meet on them or just replace them
