My 2000 GS300 has been having brake issues. The issue is whenever you apply the brakes, the first press of the pedal is soft and goes all the way down close to the floor before you feel the brakes being applied, however, if you quickly release the pedal and depress it again the pedal is firm and you feel the brake being applied immidiatley as expected.
I have bled the brakes several times and used several different methods and the problem is still there. I heard there is a way to use a computer to bleed the abs and master cylinder. Does any one know where in NY city I can get this done other than at the Dealer?
sounds like air in the line might just need to be bled. my old school is like that, have to hit the brake twice to get a firm press on it. but that's because i have Drum brakes on that car

I am an expert. I have almost the same issue where I have to pressed the brake pedal twice to have build up the pressure. I ended up brought the car to have it done at the dealer 85 bucks for bleeding where I lived. I heard that you let the engine run while bleed the rear ABS system. Make sure that you have a tubing that fit into the little brake bleeding crew and loosen the rear right wheel then left. The far wheel always the first. I did not perform this method on mine, I was afraid that I might blew some sort of gasket or seal inside the master brake cylinder or booster which could cost more to replace. Now I don't have any issue with my brake since then. Good luck.
