Anyone have tips on accessing the bank 2 sensor 1 oxygen sensor for removal? I just could not get it loose with a 22mm crowfoot sensor socket and a breaker bar. It's a very small space and I can't get the leverage I need.
Get a torch from home depot... 15 bucks... Apply heat to the base of the o2 sensor for roughly 30-60 seconds and then try to loosen it, if it does not loosen with little effort, let it cool, add some more pb, then reheat... Eventually it will come off... Be patient because the last thing you want to do is round off the sensor or damage the threads... Been there done that... Not fun...

I am using an offset O2 socket and still have a hell of a time getting both it and my breaker bar by the firewall and O2 sensor. I'll try soaking in PB overnight then run the engine up to warm before trying again. Also after a little research I found that some O2 sensor sockets are not truely 22mm as the Denso's are. The one I bought at Autozone has a little more play than I expect when on the sensor. For reference I put a 22mm wrench on both the new and another old sensor and it fit really tight like it should. Anyone have to much play in the sockets?
So I managed to remove the bank 1 downstream sensor with a little propane torch and a long 3/8 breaker bar. Now I'm struggling to access the bank 2 upstream sensor. Its right up against the firewall and there is a hose in the way. Access is hell to say the least. I'm going to try and get the propane torch down to it but will hard. This O2 sensor is in a terrible spot, makes me so angry. Anybody else change this one?
SUCCESS!!! I finally got the bank 2 sensor 1 changed. I had to remove some coolant rubber hose, soak it in PB for the 6th time, heating it up with a little torch, and used a 22mm box end wrench and torqued it with a pry bar. These 2 sensors were rediculous tight on there. The access alone to the bank 2 sensor 1 was terrible as well. Nice not have CEL on now! Next up is the valve cover gaskets.
