Default ABS Wheel Speed Sensor

Hi Guys,

Got a 1999 GS300 , I just changed the front ABS Wheel Speed Sensors.

When I took them out the tips where covered in white grease ...is this normal?... do apply new grease on new sensors before the install?

I got mine for free but they normally go for $150.00 ++ sometimes $230.00

It should come with two metal brackets and a o-ring already on the plastic sensor.

Might need something flat to pry it out after you take out the screw securing the sensor in.

I was able to twist mine around and......... totally ruined it because it was still impossible to get out even tho it was not melted or seized in....other side same same pain in the ......

You also might need to take off some plastic from the wheel well to connect it.

Peace

>PS.. FYI

To temporally turn off your ABS.... take out the big ABS fuse labeled (60) from the top of the fuse box located by the battery, smaller abs fuse should be left in.

Default Remove 60 amp ABS fuse

Side hide
Can you please let me know how to remove the 60amp fuse for my 98 GS300.
I am getting the annoying brake pulsing due to the speed sensor not connecting to teeth on my rear axel.
I did not want to force it out and break it.
Thanks

So I tried replacing my sensors and the fit is ridiculous! Part of the old sensor broke off during removal. I managed to get it all out but the new sensor won't fit all the way in no matter what I do. Also the bolt that holds it in snapped off on me...so I guess the lights on the dash stay on f or now :-(

The grease is slung off of the wheel bearing inside the hub. You don't need to put grease on the tip of the sensor. However, there is an o-ring on the new sensor that you should lube up before installing it.

Yea tried lube and it didn't help. I just tried changing the speed sensor on the tranny and it fit way better! Plug and play without the drama of the hole being too small.

I have 3 lexi here. 2 parts cars. All the ABS sensors just popped out, no fuss, no muss. I suspect the farther north you go, the rustier the car, the more problems you'll have.

OHM it out at the connector with a DMM. If it shows no continuity on the 2 pins it's dead.
