Default side mirrors stolen

Hi all,

first timer here. this morning i found my side mirrors stolen (just the glass). I was going to buy a replacement on amazon but I want to make sure i buy the right thing. I noticed theres a wire dangling, what would this plug into? I imagine its for heat maybe to melt snow or something?
If i buy this , will I need anything else?
Amazon Amazon

thanks all, I not good with cars so thanks for any tips

Thats hard to say yes/no. Try to get pictures of the backside or contact the seller to find out if there are wires. For what its worth i have oem mirror lenses and didnt feel like connecting the auto dim when i put them in. You will notice a big diff when a truck or bad hid setup is behind you and to the side. I've been moving my mirrors when that happens... but why when you shouldnt have to. Im gonna connect mine this weekend.

Call around to some salvage yards and see if you can happent o find stock mirror as a replacement. The mirror that you provided a link for through amazon is nothing more than a peice of glass cut to shape with that krylon mirror finish sprayed ont he back with 2 sticky pads.

*on the back of the stock mirror is also the autodim/heating element almost like a sticker(where that little wire plugs into) that wont be insluded witht hat amazon order. (look up side mirror LED install on youtube to see them takin the mirror aprt to see what i mean)

Im also looking for a stock driver side glass and made the mistake of getting that "replacement". I am using it however my LED turnsignal doesnt shine through it and the back the paint is already chipping and its only been 2 months.

Thanks for the info. Well I just checked on ebay and it looks like the used ones with auto dim goes for about $125 each and just regular mirror goes for $20. I think I'll settle for the cheap ones. I think since I had auto dim this is whey they stole them in the first place. ugh what a pain.

thanks for this information. I do feel like if i get the one with the autodim , it will just get stolen again so I'm ready to get the cheap one thats just glass. My only concern is, will just the glass piece stick on the metal plate thats exposed? did you have to add any glue? Also, would this give me a normal rear view mirror view, or is it like putting a hand mirror there?

I wouldnt glue anything to that plate ur talking about. What happens if the glass breaks later or attempt stolen again? That would suck. U should look at the video mentioned above or at least the diys for the led turn signal to see exactly how the stolen piece looks. There are two top tabs that hook in place and two bottom tabs that snap in place... No glue.

Thanks, I took a look at the video. It looks like these cheap mirror that I want to purchase don't have any tabs, just sticky things. The diagram is shown here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/200693756200...S:1123&vxp=mtr

EDIT** ok I found a youtube video that also shows the installation of these cheap mirrors. looks easy enough but I hope it hold.

exactly what MikeFoxx said, just 2 top hooks and thent he bottom snaps right in.

the eBay link you provided you are correct there are no tabs just velcro pads it looks like which would be like a sticker and seems like it would be easy enough to remove cleanly if need be. Keep a eye out in the clasified section on here, sometimes you'll find a part out and might find the mirrors. good luck

thanks for everything. it looks like im learning more and more about this. According to this auction, I will also need the plastic backing plate along with the mirror. ugh, my journey continues.

included a pic to show what i mean, if you still have that bracket (which i belive you still do) then the velcro pads included in that eBay ad one will stick to that and the other to the back of the mirror and then you just stick it on.
