Default Which rotors tt brake upgrade

I've read the posts already and I'm confused. I just purchased supra tt front and rear calipers. I have a 99 gs300 and am trying to get the right rotors. Everyone sais a benefit of the upgrade is larger rotors but the company I was going to purchase rotors from sais I need gs rotors and the tt pads. The posts say tt rotors in the front and because of the e brake you have to use gs rotors in the rear. Obviously I'm going to use tt pads. Can anyone with the supra tt brake upgrade please let me know who is correct. What they are using? Thanks.

That place is wrong. You need TT rotors up front. But I'm pretty sure the rears are not compatible.

Can I use the rear calipers with the gs rotors? My understanding is that the e brake is the oly reason that you can't use the supra rotors on the rear. I think the hub is larger or something like that.

I believe he has and he's gotten different answers and that's why he's created this thread to clarify.. Hopefully you get it resolved op, I'm hoping to do this upgrade in the future so I'll stay tuned to see what the answer is. GL

You have to use either Supra or LS400 rotors up front. I'm not sure why you got rear calipers because most people only upgrade the fronts. I don't see the TT rear calipers working with GS rotors in the rear. I'm not sure how you're going to make that work.

Well if I'm not mistaken. The drum assembly behind the rear rotors are completely different compared to the TT which is why I thought they were not compatible. Also I don't think the rear calipers bolt up straight. I think brackets are needed.

I thought that they all worked. I got a good deal for them which I guess wasn't good. It was a waste. I need to check it out and see what it entails. Thanks for the info. Ways bbk upgrades are relatively inexpensive for the rear. I'm not gonna drop 2500 on the rear brakes.

Well I might be wrong but that was my understanding. The supra TT rear brakes is not really much of an upgrade as ours are 2piston as well. But aesthetically they do look much nicer.

You know. I dint really look at it like that. I just figured all the calipers could be matching. I have two sets of the gs brakes so I will just rebuild one and paint them to match the fronts and call it a day. Tanks everyone. I just ordered sone dba 4000xsmdrilled and slotted rotors. Supra tt front and gs rear once again thanks for clarifying this for me.

Are you racing your car on a track or are you doing lots of driving on curvy roads at high speeds? If you are not overheating your brakes just save your money and keep the stock brakes

I have a gte motor with a single turo conversion. I'm constantly punching it on the highway. At 130 b4 I know it and slowing down. Stock brake don't cut it. Lol. I'm tired of roasting rotors. The supra tt brakes have many more options for 2 piece rotors and pads. This should eliminate my issues and provide much ore stopping power at high speeds. I'm gonna keep the factory rear calipers and the brembo drilled rotors that I have. I'm just trying to figure out exactly which front rotors I want. It's between project mu, dba 5000xs, and ap racing. S far it looks like the ap racing. I just waiting for a answer to see if they make them for my car.

I've got TT calipers, Hawk pads, and DBA 4000 up front, works great with hard braking. Downside is I get horrible braking squeal when the rotors are wet/raining. I'll be changing back to OEM pads when the hawk's wear out I think..

I also noticed that if I'm cruising for a while on the freeway without braking and suddenly come up to some traffic, the brakes are not very responsive until they heat up the rotors again. Just food for thought.
