Default GS4 Checklist for Springtime

So I went back to school and had to put the GS into storage this past weekend. I’m starting a checklist of all the upgrades/accessories I want to add to her come springtime. The biggest part I’m most indecisive about is the rim and tire combination I should go for. My GS4 is black and I don’t want to go with chrome but I don’t want black either. I am thinking more of a gray or silver color. Also I don’t want to go bigger than 18’s, huge rims just aren’t my taste but if anyone has any ideas with any rims post up some pics. Also I will be on coilovers so it will be flusher than appears in my picture.
Thanks guys I’m pumped to see what you guys will come up with.

umm... what? confused about what youre asking for in this thread.

19s is too big? you kidding right? 19" rims are optimal for 2GS platform due to its size.

Adding coilovers to make your car flush? the proper rim/tire combo makes the ride flush. Coilvers just lower the car.

Ill try and be as nice as i can be....

Time and Time i see these "Can someone tell me what looks good on my car" Threads.. or in this case "what wheels do you guys think i should get" Which leads me to believe..The lack of Personality/Individuality in the person who asks...and this lack of confidence in your own taste, generally resides in the Prepubescent crowd...
dont let people choose for you.

19" wheels in hyper silver finish or high gloss finish, or brushed clear or matte silver. machined finish is nice also. don't forget to powder coat.

For you 19's may be the ideal size, but for me I don't like them that's why I stated this in the opening paragraph. 19's are just straight up to heavy and not my taste. I also know what coilovers are and how they work so when I say coilovers make it more flush I mean there wont be a huge gap like the current photos show...

Again I'm not saying that what is put on this forum I'm going to buy that tire/rim combo because that would be ridiculous. I'm asking for some guidance in the right direction from people with experience. That is what forums are for. This way when i end up making a 1500+ dollar purchase i don't put the rims on and hate them. That's what I mean by this thread, I want to get an idea of what something will look like before I actually do it. I don't have lack of taste, I'm an engineer and I like to plan things out before I do it so I don't have to continue to redo things that could of otherwise been done right the first time.

It's your car so choose what you think look best and suits you.. When people ask these type of questions, most of the time, you're gonna hear something that you don't like. There's a wheel/offset thread here that's form for these particular questions. Otherwise, people are gonna tell you to go 19's or 20's and if you stay with 18's, they're gonna tell you to go with crazy offsets which is something you're not looking for per your posting.

Yeah I'm starting to notice that unfortunately, I was just hoping for someone with experience with whats worked and what hasn't. I'll be sure to check that thread out, thanks

Make a decision based on what you like and want, take recommendations with a grain of salt. As what someone may recommend will look ugly to you in 6 months.

I have yet to meet a car owner who has loved their wheels for the end of time, we all grow out of styles and it doesnt mean it was a bad $1500+ dollar purchase.

Choose your Style...Dont let the Style choose You...

??? I have plenty of confidence in my tastes. What your telling me though is that you've never liked something in a picture, but when it came time you saw it in person it just didn't look the same? Yeah that's what I'm trying to avoid because it happens to all of us... whether or not you can admit that it looks bad in real life is that persons problem; a problem that I'm going to avoid no thanks to you.

What everybody is saying is that everybody is not going to keep the rims and offsets they're rolling on forever. You're gonna buy a set of rims that you like for a couple of months to years, eventually, you're gonna see another GS with crazier offsets or different type of wheels that you saw in person you like. You stated yourself that pictures does no justice so why bother with this thread? Forums are here to assist but not here to perfect your needs. Everybody here has different style and some may have your taste but won't bother assisting. We have a thread on here in the classifieds that you can trade/sell your wheels. You're starting a thread now is going to impact your decision in springtime. You're going to school, vacations, clubs, bars, and you might see a Lexus that'll catch you eyes and want that setup. Come next year after you have achieved your liking, you're gonna see something else that you're gonna want and like and want to change. Rims are rims. Everybody goes or will go through atleast 2 pairs of rims. It's just how it goes. I've been through 19's and 20's and I love 20's dues to the size of the car but needs a lip kit to make it right. 19's gives it that picture perfect slammed without loosing sight of the rims. 18's is just when I feel like effing up my undercarriage. Again, that's my taste. You might think you're going to stick to a conservative drop and offsets now, and I dare you to PM me a year later saying your sticking with your offset and have yet to see anything to change your mind. We're not here to be a **** to you. It's just we see these threads everyday and whatever we say, the OP does their own thing anyways so why waste each others time when we can assist with mechanical problems and etc.. If it helps, you could always try photoshopping rims onto the car but again, it won't do justice. It's all trial and error my friend. I change girls like a change my underwear because I see what I like but when I wake up next to me in the morning, it scares me and I start looking for something better.. Same thing goes for wheels

OP, I'm not saying you're taking the wrong approach to your query, but you might have better luck just looking at pics of wheels on others rides. The gallery and wheel forum are FULL of pix. When you find some you're interested in, pm the owners and ask questions you might have.

You certainly will catch less flak that way.

As to your original question:

I've been on the same set of wheels for 10 years. 18" AT Italia Rivas (2pc), staggered. Love the ride and look. Visually I think 19" look better, but my GS is my DD so I prefer more the ride of the 18's. Having said that, I don't know that I'd do staggered again. It really limits tire life, by limiting rotations from side to side. If you run directional tires on a staggered setup, then there is no rotating at all. Being on a lowered setup (L-tuned springs & shocks), they'll wear faster, especially if your suspension isn't setup for the drop in height. Before adjustable kits came out, I was burning through a set of tires every 12-18 months. Now with adjustable control arms, and rear camber kits, I no longer have that problem.

If I was to do it again, I seriously consider the same size at each corner, and maybe do some spacers on the rear to get a "wider" look. Also keep in mind , if you ever plan on doing a BBK, you'll need to factor that in to your wheel fitment.

Some of my all time favorite wheels: Zauber Gettins, and Racinghart C4/M4s.

Good luck!!
