NO OFFENSE TO BMW DRIVERS ON THIS BOARD!
I was driving down a cruise spot in southeast Michigan when a young guy in some 94 three series BMW pulls up next to me. He had a obnoxious exhaust, huge spoiler, hydros, and 17" WHEELS. He gets me to roll my window down and guess what he said to me, "So where are your 20's?". I started laughing and said "get a life and don't worry it's in the works"...hehe. I couldn't understand why he would ask such a thing. I had just bought the car two weeks prior and I am only 18. Not sure what he was trying to prove, but...the story gets even funnier! Yesterday, I was driving the dealerships courtesy car RX 300,with no labels , when suddenly I saw him again! He was with his girlfriend, but I had to do what I had to do. I got him to roll his window down and said to him, "Hey remember me...I decided to buy this RX 300 instead!"...hehe. It was so bad of me, but he had it coming.
I have a stock GS4 platinum edition with the 16" wheels.
I used most of the money I got back from my last car to put down on the GS. On the GS, my parents pay for the car 6 months out of the year, but I give them a nice amount a month the other 6 to kind of even it out. I am a co-op engineer at kettering univeristy which was called general motors institute, so we are paid for what we do at our companies. Before that, I worked for my parents since a young age. Thats were I saved up for my last car. YES, my parents pay for my insurance. Thats basically how.
Thats too funny 1SICKLEX, but I would definitely agree with you. That is the funny thing! He has 17" wheels, telling me to get 20's...lol. What a moran! Anyway, I am glad to see you agreed with me about my fustrations.
Thanks again! Actually, I have a '00 GS4 PE. I bought new right before the 430 came out. My previous car, which was a '98 C5, was getting worn out, so I had to act fast. The car had over 60k miles in 2 years, a replaced motor (N20), tranny twice, and the runflats were done the threads again. Plus I finally had my parents in a good mood, cause there is no way I can afford the insurance on my name.
Holding on the more responsibilty now, like changing my plate from LEXTACY to the standard...hehe, but I hate it when people act differently around you.
Yeah I hope they do (BMW owners)!...lol...It's all in good fun!
Actually, anyone that puts a big tail on a BMW should be ran off the road. Some guy in our building with a nice Estoril Blue //M Roadster put a tail on it. God it looks stupid. There is also a Dinan Roadster, not sure if the guy has a blower or not. Haven't heard it running. But a whale tail...please.
KKelly - Since your our BMW expert i will ask you this question. 2 years ago i heard the exhaust of a M roadster . It was sweeeeeeet . I was wondering do you have any clue to any exhaust company that comes close to the sound of the M roadster ? I was thinking maybe the Remus might be close since they are a German company.
This thread absolutely cracked me up...LOL. Great stuff. I couldn't believe that that guy would ask you to roll down your window and ask you something stupid like "where's your 20's?" Funny stuff. It's true though, great cars (expensive), great responsibility.
Not to pick a fight or anything but why did you write "BMW drivers..." rather than "A BMW driver"?? Your incident involved one dumb *** driving in his bimmer, no?
No idea how you could make the exhaust of a non-BMW sound like a BMW, especially with a different engine. Lots of owners do use Remus and Supersprint. My exhaust is pretty throaty but is totally stock. Usually the only benefit to changing an exhaust on an M car is weight. They are pretty well tuned from the factory.
