no need for anything on the stock caps. just work with the jp caps to fit. you could put aftermarket chrome trim once the caps are installed. the thing with the autozone trims (1/4"), its thin, so youll need to double layer it. ive heard a member here used the OEM trims for his side caps all around since its thicker. heres my build thread, not much on the caps..but i guess you can use it to reference or whatever..
