Default 99' AC not working properly

Ok let me start off with saying yes I've searched an found nothing as to what's going on with my car. The AC isn't blowing cold. When I initially start the car, it blows cold for the first 30sec or so then turns hot. I've changed the exspansion valve, but I'm thinking possibly the evaporator is the culporate. Before I start the process of breaking down the car, I wanted to get some insite from others. Recap, car is a 99, AC stopped all of a sudden, not gradually, there was signs of dampness on the driver side under carpet ... Blows cold initially, then hot... Thanks in advance guys

Look up water on floor board or flood or something to that extent, you'll find the answers. Someone just posted on this last week. i'm gonna check the DIY page, cause I think it there too.

I did the DIY evaporator.... I responded...

If it is cool at all, its probably not your evap... It sounds like youre low on freon and when the motor heats up it isnt enough to keep the hardware/gases cool in your AC system. Id get a cheap kit and troubleshoot it... if you have any questions shoot me your phone # and ill give you a call.. Ive done everything on my GS ac system so I have a good idea about what it about

but to answer your question... I would first get your readings from some AC gauges... it sounds like the comp is kicking on initially and cooling a second and then it disengages... maybe from too much pressure or too little.... Id turn the car on and crank it and see if the clutch engages or disengages then go from there
