Default key lock code

I'm in socal right now (covina to be exact). I currently have a master key and a valet.

Just went to a locksmith to get some spare keys cut. I've been there before, but for some reason this time they couldn't copy my master key. The guy cut a couple samples and they failed. He told me that he would have to remove my door panel to get to the engraved lock code, so he could cut the key right and he didn't really want to do it.

Anyone know how I can get that code without doing that? Can I just call a dealership with my vin # and get it? Nearest dealer is Longo and I don't know if they will want to be bothered since no money is in it for them. I already have the 2 blank keys for the spares.

Anyone else can suggest a locksmith in the west covina/glendora area that can get this done for me?

hi. he has 2 options he can take the passenger lock out and look at the code or if his a locksmith he should be able to get a keycode . Dealer wont help you. If your master key works good he shouldnt have an issue duplicating.Hope this helps

I don't understand why Lexus would give a locksmith the code but not the owner of the car. Anyway, none of the local locksmiths seemed interested, so I just bought some pre-cut ones off of ebay. I get them tomorrow.

Got my keys today and both work perfect. $45 dollars for 2, with a key chain pendant, and a spare battery. Only took 3 days. Much better the some dealers trying to tell, no your only option is to buy 2 keys for $250 or whatever from us because we're the only ones who can do it.

ebay. If search for my thread in socal regional section, you'll see where a member pointed me to an ebay seller.
