Default Picking up gs300 tomorrow

Ok it's a 2004 gs300 and im picking it up tomorrow.

The owner only has 1 key for it which is just a Lexus key. I asked him where's the other key and he said he bought the car with only 1 key. The key doesn't have an alarm or trunk button.

I just fear buying the car off of him and after signing the pink slip he'll head to my house and jack the car anther day.

I won't be able to get insurance until next week.

Buy it next week. Could have asked to have him meet u half way on a second key. When u get insurance get a low $50 comp deductible ... If stolen thats all u pay to file ur claim

... Meanwhile congrats u'll love the car

I didn't know that... So, they actually use one of the regular (master) keys to program another master key ?

its your choice
if the car is in great shape for a good price or if it is what you where looking all papers are ok than rent some secure parking or garage (if only theft is whats bothers you)
its fishy that the owner bought it with only valet key but anything is posible (my first lex i bought with 4 keys, 2 masters, 1 valet and 1 key card , second one with 3 keys except valet )

Should I worry about the key and theft attempt he'll try to do?

Stop worrying what we think and do what you feel is best for your situation. That's all that matters. Every answer will be subjective and hold no merit if there is a chance your car could be stolen or not.

personally i wouldnt buy a car with just a valet key. seems extremely sketchy.

ive heard plenty of horror stories in cali of people selling their cars to others, going to steal it and selling it to another person.

With the 02+, the dealer can add addition keys with their programmer. You should call the dealer to find out how much for the key and programming.

Seriously? I have a dealer for a living and half the cars come with only one key. The guy wont come to our house and "jack" the car from you. Your just convincing yourself that something bad will happen when in reality, it wont.
