Hi, my brother has a 99 GS400 that would die on us intermitently. I'm noticing now that its whenever were driving in stop and go scenarios (city driving) utilizing the brakes. When the car is in park or neutral its fine, but if its in gear and im holding the brake down it kills the battery. RPM's get fairly low to the 3-400 range. The radio starts to skip and then the battery light comes on, car dies.

I find myself having to put the car in neutral or if i hold the brake and give it gas it'll stay on.

Do you guys have any idea what the issue could be?

Get battery and charging system checked out. Check for loose connection on battery

 

I think it is time to replace your battery. Take it to Auot Zone and have them test is it for you. Have the alternator checked also while you are at it.

 

make sure all your connections are nice and tight

check battery, then alternator like many have said

 

booster is going out.
