Default 90K Service

I have a 2nd Gen GS (1998) and I have 115,000 and am just now looking to do the 90K service, namely the timing belt and water pump.

At a local garage (not dealer), I have been quoted $655 for the Timing Belt, Water Pump, Coolant replace and of course, Labor and Tax (6.3%). Is this a good price and is there anything else that I have to have done? The dealer I think, from reading the ofrums, would charge like $1,100 - $1,200.00. Is this an apples to apples comparison or am I missing items that MUST be done now? Are there some kind of seals or any other items / fluids that need to be replaced as well? I need to know if there is anything else that I need the shop to do while they are doing the Timing Belt and Water Pump. Please clearly list each item.

I have done a Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill. And have had the 30K and 60K services done previously.

I had the Spark Plugs replaced 50K miles with some performance plugs that have been recommended on CL.

I have just recently had the Coolant drain out of my car and I refilled it (50/50 pre-diluted mix) and it seems to not be leaking after a few days. I will check again later today.
Could this be related to something with Water pump or some other issue?

Thank you for your prompt assistance.

Most likely suggestions would be to replace the radiator hoses. and serpentine belt. Both these items will be already off and do wear.

Usually, when they do timing belt, you replace the other things like idlers and tensioner since you've already got it off. So you may want to ask them about it.
There isn't detail about exactly when they do those jobs if gaskets and other misc. items for the waterpump are going to be reused or replaced.
If you go to rockauto.com, and look at the different timing belt kits; you see they range in price as well as components they contain.

They will also have to do the coolant again since they will take off your radiator and water pump to do the service. Be sure to think over what coolant you used. You are supposed to be using toyota red which is not-premixed, or toyota pink which is pre-mixed. If you're mixed up some generic fluids, then you may want to ask them to flush and fill with toyota fluid.

If you TRUST that this shop is competent, tell them to inspect everything else along the way and call you and advise anything else along the way to replace. Or you tell them before hand, I want the best replace any extra misc. parts under $20 like seals and gaskets instead of reusing them, so they know where you stand.

Engine oil Seals really, they should Inspect first and replace if necessary. There's a few threads where people thought they were getting ahead of the game and had a working seal pro-actively replaced and then got leaks as payment for their troubles.

As far as genaral price; 655 for parts+labor is a very fair price. www.repairpal.com

As far as anything else, depends if you are up-to date on your other maintenance and for convenience want to get it done by a pro. Like brakes, oil change, diff fluid change, trans oil change, etc.
