Default Gs400 or Ls400

Ok so i have a Ls400 1996 with 185000 miles on it and i absolutely love it but its not fast enough and the gearing on it sucks so i started looking at the gs400 and i found a couple in my price range but all of them have around 200000 all the way up to 250000 miles on them and i am wondering if it would just be a waste of money to buy a car that has that many miles on it when my car already is nearing 200000. The reason why i want a gs400 is because they are really quick and they can be modded with plenty of other parts while the LS has little to no additional mods.

I don't think milage is a factor with either car. Just make sure those cars have had all the recommended maintenance ie water pump, starter, ball joints/control arms replaced and it should be good to go.

Ya its kinda a boner kill because all the other gs's are like 8500 and i really don't have that much. But do you guys really think that it would be right if i sell my Ls for a GS?

The GS is quite a bit quicker than the LS. On the other hand, the LS has a more comfy ride and a little bit more space.

I wouldn't get a GS with more miles than your LS already has. Save up to get a GS 400 or 430 with less miles.

Anytime your looking at a car with that kind of mileage maintenance history will be key. If its been properly maintained it'll have a lot of good miles left but if not it could be a money pit. Look for one with records and that's been taken care of and you'll be ok.

Good luck in your search!

^ +1 on the maintenance history

IMHO, try finding a little something with less miles. 2gs dont go for much these days, you can find something and pay a little more for less miles

maintenance would be the key here. but like others say, save up a tad bit more.

Ok so i just found a 1999 with 225xxx miles on it with the guy saying that he has maintenance proof and is willing to show me all of it. Also he has modded it with megan coilovers and stanced it slightly by the looks of the picture. Is it worth it?

I have a 98 GS400 that is mint with 266k miles on it, runs drives and shifts like its new looks beautiful inside and out as well... locally owned and maintained by my lexus dealer. wouldnt ever fear buying a lexus with any amount of miles as long as it was taken care of.
