Question about aftermarket wheel Lug Nuts and Hub Rings
I have a question i want to try to get a n answer to before i tear something up. I recently purchased some American racing Casinos, which have the GS 5x114.3 bolt pattern. I have seen on the forums that alot of people say to use the tapered, or acorn style lug nuts in the left side of the picture. The ones in the middle have the shank and will fill the excess area in the wheel bolt hole, while snugging the wheel to the hub. I would like to use the nuts that have the shank, but i want to be sure they are safe. Another issue i woud like to clear up is the small gap betwwn the wheel hub bore and the hub diameter . Do i need to get any type of Hub Centric rings in order to properly center the new wheels..? Thanks for any advice

Yes you do. Most, if not all, after market wheels would require hub centric rings to avoid any vibrations unless you get a rim that is SPECIFICALLY MADE for your car (i believe the hub bore is 60.1mm) and I'm not talking about the 5x114.3 bolt pattern. As far as the lug nuts, I believe you can use any tuner nuts except factory cause they're just do d**n fat!

I bought some hub rings for my wheels. I went with the plastic stuff because it was cheap and supposedly metal ones may fuse. Put on some antiseize if you do go with metal though.

Ok, so I'm good with the nuts i'm using, just need to locate some 60.1mm hub rings- thanks for the input- I may have to get those skinny spline tapered lug nuts though, because I cant get a regular tire tool end in the aftermarket lugnut holes- does anyone see a problem there? Thanks

You must use aftermarket acorn nuts for aftermarket wheels. Do not use oem style lug with flanges on those wheels.
You can get a 20 pack of lugs that are splined, hex, inverted hex, hepta, or various other locknut patterens at autozone, advance, oreilly's, ebay or whatever for like ~$20 or so that will come with a thin wall socket to fit in deep aftermarket pad holes. The size you need is 12x1.50mm
Or you can get some awesome titanium nuts from www.dressupbolts.com

True, the autozone/advance lugs are steel..
Ebay has everything so it's a bit vauge to say they are heavy since you can get ray's titanium lugs for $400 on ebay, or you can get cheap $15 aluminum lugs as well..
Be leery of running aluminum lugs if they are not forged.
