Default Anyone using stock sub location for different subs?

Anyone here who put a aftermarket subs in stock sub location? i'm not a fan of sub box and the sub i have need one big box for max performance so i was thinking since mine is a "10 and the factory also is "10 i might as well use the factory location.

Theres a DIY in the sticky thread and the OP even posted up a template for using a plywood type bracket/mounting base. Its really legit and I plan on doing my own with a JL 3v3 500w.

I can tell you not to put a 35 pound rockford power hx2 10" up there. I tried that and it was too heavy for the rear deck. It flexed a lot. I now have a 11 pound kenwood 10" and everything is fine.

33 lbs is way too much. I have the Alpine SWR-M100 in the OEM location, and I get rattling from the seat belt assemblies.

Gotta make sure the sub is designed for infinite baffle applications. A sub that's not meant for that will sound like crap if put in the stock location.

yeah. i think i saw some people running up to 25 pounds back there. i didn't get an answer whether or not it would work, so i tried it. took it out after a couple weeks because i could hear the rear deck flex/rattle while hitting big bumps on the freeway.

I think the primary things you want are a high qts around .5-.7, a low fs, and high x-max. You're not going to find a lot of subs listed as designed for ib. My setup is fine, i wasn't looking for a lot of bass, i just had to switch from oem because i changed the head unit.

well i bought this sub long time a go for my 3000gt, now since i have the lexus i'm not going to put it on the other car. looks like i have too make a box for it. i'll see if i can find a way to reinforce the deck. the good thing about this sub is that it can do sealed , ported or Infinite Baffle.

I used the existing location. I even cut out the old subwoofer and used the same bracket to attach my subwoofer back in the exact same spot. Looks ok. It sounds fantastic! No rattling except from the subwoofer when I turn it up to disturb my neighbors.

Here are the specs to the sub:
Manufacturer: Rockford Fosgate (Shallow Mount 10")
Model number: P3SD210
Weight: 14.50 lbs

^ I definately don't want mines exposed like that. It will be completely hidden identical to the factory arrangement. The Fostgate in your setup weights exactly the same as my JL 3v3 though 14.5lbs
