dvd, tv, & pc in GS?
I am thinking about ways to enable efficient pc capabilities in my GS4. My idea is to have a 5" lcd on the driver and front passenger headrests (for the rear passengers) and a 5" lcd on the front passenger sun shade (in place of the mirror). I can easily get a dvd/tv setup (even when one passenger wants to watch tv, the other dvd, and the other car audio). But I need help in connecting a computer to a 5" lcd. Many times I am the passenger instead of the driver and I would like to use that time doing email, fixing programming bugs, etc. I know I could use a laptop but desktops are much faster and a lot easier to upgrade, plus I want that capability in my GS. Any suggestions or does anyone know of a website/forum/person that has done stuff like this before. Eventually I will be also setting up the mp3 player, video games, and gps navigation to go in the car through the computer to all 3 lcd screens. Please advise. Email to nanotech@mybizrate.com
It's a tough job, controlling a Windoze PC using an NTSC screen is pretty hard, esp. if you want to read gps maps etc. There are affordable 6.4" VGA screens with 18bit color which work decently for movies, but the limited brightness level means no direct sunlight/closed sunroof/dark tint. Larger screens which aren't integrated into the cabin are just begging to be stolen. I built a box and wired up my GS 2 years ago, but never found a screen which worked well enough. (I did find an 8.4" 800x600 panel with decent brightness, 18bit color, but nobody has a controller for it). If you want an LCD, check out http://flat-panel.com . I also have code for a single chip serial controller for winamp that handles 26 playlists, volume, ff,rew, track-, track+, play, pause, stop, soft shutdown with 7 buttons.
