Hey guys/girls.

Recently I have really been considering either a GS300 or IS300.
I am due to have my first child in a couple months so I am looking for something that will provide the luxury, practicality, and comfort now then further down the road provide me a project car with loads of potential. I'd absolutely love to have a 2jz-gte car when the time is right.
I'm no stranger to building turbo cars. Currently I have an SRT-4 which I'm looking to sell for the Lexus. I also had an Evo 8 at one point, and ten built DSM's over a ten year span.

I am really up in the air on whether I should go with the GS300 or IS300. The IS300's are a bit on the small side but probably a better size for a toy car. The GS300 seems a bit big but the interior is much better (at least in my opinion)

I was wondering what to "Look out for" when going to purchase either car, and if any GS or IS300 owners could share opinions on which direction to go in.

Save yourself the regrets, and get the GS430...

X2 Get a GS400 or 430

 

GS model only because i think it will be better for the family and a larger interior. Whatever model u get a 2jz will drop right in....

 

X100 get the GS430 or atleast 400. I've regreted till today by getting the gs300. I cannot wait till I move on to a 08/09 gs350 in the next 6 months.

 

Whys that? I can see why it is good for a 2jzgte swap, and turbo thats all.

Get a 400/430 a 300 is sluggish no doubt.

 

I bought a GS300 and I'm almost payed off with a lessthan 1.5 yrs. of ownership. Having said that, I see myself driving this car til the wheel falls off. I have done ZERO mods and ZERO everything except for paying gas and insurance on it. All of the money I save by driving GS3 goes to the Mortgage payment or new toys.

My point is this; Unless you own a tree in your backyard with a money growing capabilities or win a million dollar lotto just buy a GS3 and drive til the wheel falls off. It offers safety with side curtains air bags, comfy, backseat for my child and lots of bells and whistles but most importantly 2JZ engine.

Also,

Maintanence issues has been 1 headlight bulb flasher replaced, 1 rear light bulb replaced, a battery replaced and that's it! Besides timing belt replacement, this car has been dirt cheap to own because it has been very reliable.

 

Save money, go NA-T.

 

I agree whole-heartedly! I am not looking to mod mine too much, just some nice rims and thats about it! I love the 300 and imo the 400's are lacking! Thats just me! I just got my car and with the service records, carfax and receipts...mine has had the same replaced. I plan to drive mine until the wheels fall off too, and then try my hardest to get it fixed and roll again! There are 5 of us in my family, and we ride COMFORTABLY!

 

If it's going to double as a family car, go GS. The IS is TINY, TINY.. Front passengers touch elbows and rear passengers have no leg room. Great nimble car and fun to drive, but not as practical for kids, car seats, groceries, etc..

Where are the 400's lacking?? They get practically the same mileage as the 300, but can actually be fun to push the gas in stock form?

I bought a 300, but only because I specifically wanted to go GTE. Otherwise it was slow, boring, and not great on gas. I would defiantly recommend a 400/430 to anyone that is not going to GTE/NA-T the 300. The price difference's are not really that much between the 300 and 400.

If you are going to get a IS300, You might as well buy a honda civic. Get a GS300. Its a tad bit better on gas. And quick enough for your family, since I doubt that you're trying to race people at stop lights

 

GS400/430 will bring no regrets. Big enough for the family, fast enough for you, classy to impress those you need to impress and a bullet-proof drivetrain. Get the GS, save a little for 3-years, get a first gen IS and mod that thing like crazy - then you've got the best of both worlds.

 

I drove a 400 and TO ME, it lacked in speed! I could personally be wrong and it may have been the particular 400 I drove, but that was a deal breaker for me!
