If you plan to stay N/A the truck motors may not be the best option as the car engines can make more hp, but they also cost more. For boost the 4.8L and 5.3L are great options, a little lower compression, plus cheap and easy to find in junk yards still in great condition.

There are a multitude of LS guys making huge hp (600hp-1000hp+) with the small 4.8L and 5.3L truck engines. In that regard I'm not blazing any trails, just following the proven path to the destination. My goal is to make ~700rwhp thru a 4000rpm Circle D converter and 4L80E transmission, which would be around 850 crank hp.

I have a room full of parts, had to wait almost eight weeks on the valve springs because they were out of stock and on back order. Work has kept me busy lately, but that should be changing very soon. I hope to have the engine basically put together in another month or so, then on to the transmission. I haven't taken anything out of the donor GS430, it's still running.

I've started back up on my project and have acquired some more parts. I left my old job and started a new job about a month ago, and now have more free time to work on this project. New job is going very well, great place, great people, and a better opportunity all around so win/win.
I've also contacted Brian at AES about their 5.3L short block for boost with forged pistons and rods. I hope to have it built and delivered by the first of the year.

It will be based off the standard short block above with a few extra's like H beam rods,Total Seal rings, plus a set of 799 casting heads.

Nice car, great find. Wow, these things are far cheaper in America. I know I paid way too much for mine 2-yrs ago, but my thinking was, "you can buy this amazing 2000 GS that looks and drives like new: Or you can buy a 1-year-old Accord that in 5-years will look and drive like its worn out." You just can't go wrong with these cars, but I am not sure the 2008/9/10 Lexus will be holding up like these ones.
i agree with you ,i feel the same way!!
