Nope it bolts right up to the TH400, just remove the stock tailshaft and bolt this one up, 6 bolts and a controller box, thats it!

Wow I love your car, so clean and tastefully done. What size tire are you running in the rear and have you put that Gear Vendor gear splitter in yet? Just curious how you liked the driveability

I had mixed feelings with my set up when I was running the TH400 with the GV unit. The GV unit definitely makes the car more driveable on the street though. Im curious to see how you like it once you driving with it for awhile.

I love this set up. With the gear vendors computer switched on I never have to activate or deactivate the overdrive, it's all automatic. Now if I hit the track I will just manually turn it on at the top of 2nd gear, that should get me through the traps.

I have had my tranny out with the R154, V160, A340E, more times than I care to remember, with the 400 I feel like it might be years before I have to pull it if ever. It's so nice to have a tranny that doesn't cost much in future expenses to maintain and is relable to boot, plus I love the manual shift and the transbrake / high stall. For a hgh HP 2JZ street car this is the best setup hands down IMO. V160 multidisk clutches are expensive to buy and maintain and they suck to daily drive. My converter is very tight, it will only stall to 2600 with the transbrake on and throttle floored so it's not slipping too highwhich makes it very streetable. The drawback to that is if I run into someone at a light it's a bit of a pig until the turbo gets going, escpecially with the 3.27 GS400 rear but I just solved that problem this weekend at the PRI show. I ordered a new NX high flow valve and remote bottle opener so I can hit the spray at a moments notice. With the nitrous the car will launch over 4000 RPM on the trans brake. I thought about going back to the GS300 rear but I like the low RPM's on the highway too so I'll probably keep the taller gears.

will do. Hopefully my car will be done in the next 2-3 weeks so I can hit Speedworld before they close up. I think mid 10's will be easy to hit with the Motec providing traction control and launch control. I just picked up some new Hoosier 315 drag radials so the car should handle allot better on those over the bald / skinny 255 ET Streets I was using before. Darin Dichara is setting up the Motec M800 with full MIL SPEC harness / Automatic Flex Fuel/ Boost by gear / Traction Control. The Motec is expensive as **** but it's the best ECU on the market. I was at the PRI show last weekend, just about every race car on display was rocking a Motec.

Adam, you're car is amazing!!! I'm having issues with my a650e just after 5k on the IPT rebuild kit. I really wanted to do the th400 the first time my tranny blew but its pretty uncommon to the gs community so I didn't want to take the chance of running into unforeseen problems. If you can at your convenience of course, can you please send me a list of all necessary part and prices needed to do the th400 swap. Thanks and I can wait to see that 10sec pass. What are you 60' looking like? Are still making around 6xxwhp? Thanks again

Just go to the supraforums, look for a SP400 kit for the Supra. Those kits sell close to 6K new but the resale market is only 3K or so, I paid $3200 for mine. The kit comes with everything you need. There is one for sale on the forum now I think, I seen it a few weeks ago. If you do a search under my name with keyword TH400 you will find it. If you want to go fast and not have the headaches dealing with expensive clutches this is the way to go. IMO this setup is way nicer for the GS300 over the V160, I've had both and I prefer my 6 speed TH400 with a trans brake hands down.

My car is making over 800 RWHP now, I'm pushing the limits of the stock motor. Last week I floated a valve and bent one. Luckily for me there was no serious damage. I'm in the process of upgrading my head now.
