Default Looking at a unicorn

2003 gs300 / 98k miles non navi white w/black interior and wood trim. This would be my first gs and they want 10k financing. Everything looks in above average condition.

Is this a fair price?

Depending where your located, But that's not a bad price that is if it's in mint condition

Yes, price is fair assuming it's clean and there are no surprises

Hey, I have a quick question. Why the heck do you all call this type of GS a unicorn?? I never understood this because the "Unicorn" horse is all white with NO black anything on it. Am I missing something here?

With 98k, I can bet you that it isn't done yet. They probably dumped it before the major work.

Time for negotiations if the Timing belt wasn't done.. Its really not a bad price since i've seen some on ebay with 70k-80k miles going for mid to low 13's.... If its mint condition than you have yourself a rare GS..

It's because it is very hard to find a white 2GS with black interior. the "unicorn" wasn't used because of its physical appearance.

I got my SD Unicorn for 10,500 back in May. Timing belt and stuff wasnt done but I wasnt concerned either since I do it all myself. The interior was immaculate with some minor paint flaws, I know what my plans were so paint and stuff was all minor to me... I test drove about 20 GS's prior to my baby now and I think I got a decent deal..

Ouch..I would personally stay away from financing a 8yr car at 10k. What are the Finance terms?

If you dont have the cash and/or cant go thru a private sale, id maybe look into financing a small loan thru your personal bank.

financing a 10K car can easily turn into 15K after taxes if not payed within a reasonable time.

honestly, this would be my first time at financing a vehicle. i am not too informed of financial terms but i'm still just looking at my options. i'm comfortable putting $2500-$3500 down since i want to keep monthly moderately low and i'm unsure of my credit score (which cant be too bad, pay 1-2 year old cards off timely). payments around $300-$400 a month are adequate for me.

with that info, what do you think of my situation?

Sounds like you have an idea of what you want to put down and pay monthly, but i would try to get the full terms to make sure they dont start adding any additional charges and most important the %rate. Get a full quote from them, they may run your credit to see what rate they can offer you, blah blah blah..

Good luck..I hate DEALERSHIPS...CROOKS

X2!!!! Get the full term of the loan. With this being your first loan, I'm assuming the interest will be pretty high, and they might try and stretch it out to make the monthly payments lower.
How long will you have to make that payment, cuz you could wind up paying close to twice the amount in interest by the end of everything.
