Default transmission pan gasket

For those who have replaced their tranny filter, what did you use for the gasket. I bought a kit at Advance that included the filter and a gasket for the pan but it doesn't look like the tranny pan originally had a gasket. If you didn't use a gasket, what DID you use?

TIA

OEM comes with RTV gasket maker (red)

you can use that rubber gasket that came with your kit though. itll do the same and is less messy.

the reason I asked is that last week I had my timing belt service and while I had it at my mechanic I asked him to fix my stripped out tranny plug. He used the gasket and now I have a leak. He'll make it right but I only want to take it back once. FWIW, I supplied the gasket to him.

Default re : rtv

Hey there is a gray rtv that toyota uses that is sold in the parts store that I used after the tranny shop serviced my transmission and used a gasket that leaked. Its about 4.99 and it seals one time. I read the manual and replaced the gasket with rtv. It never leaked again.....

Try it it works very well. It is also high temp.

you have to make sure to CLEAN IT VERY WELL.. remove all old sealant.. before applying the new stuff.

I always use the gray rtv silicon gasket maker for stuff like that. Rubber gaskets just don't sit well with me....never has
