Depends on what is there point of view. GS300 gas mileage is only better by 2mph on the highway. Second, people like to do the supra engine swap and do other mods. On the other hand GS400 is already 300 hp, not necessary needs to be modified if wished. That is just some ideas and how I see it.

in fact gs400/430 uses aluminum engine block which is lighter than the gs300 iron block. but depends on how you drive, gs4 can have much lower MPG than gs3

Why did Lexus even give the GS a V8 option?

Enough said...

Not sure if thats a valid comment sir Who said it was an option? If it were an option, why would they have a different name. You go in asking for a GS400/430 not, "Hey, I'd like a GS300, but I want it with a v8"

again as I said before (as well as others) Why does one say the 400 is better and why do some say the 300 is better? One will argue that its easier to modify a 300 because of the market while the 400/430 is hard to find much support for. If we're talking stock for stock and using a car only for what it was meant to, well... But if one wants to mod, then thats why one would say the 300 is better.

^ I meant Lexus gives you the option when it comes to wanting a GS. You can go for the i6 or OPT for the V8 version.

stock for stock.. theres no argument that its better cuz obviously its not... besides MAYBE mpg but they get the same.

Modded, however, there are plenty.

Stock for Stock Why would you want to go 0-60 in 7 seconds when you could get there in 6?
Modded is a whole different story since the 2JZ is a lot cheaper to mod.

GS4 has the v8 rumble with a simple drop in air filter it sounds a lot richer than my Infiniti FX. Not to mention the gas mileage for a V8 is pretty damn good. Better than all my V6 cars.
