Can't you just start in L? Isn't L first gear?

If anybody else does this they should attach the paddles to the steering column instead of the steering wheel so that the paddles do not rotate when you rotate the steering wheel. I have the gs400 with the buttons on the steering wheel and it would be a lot better if they did not rotate with the steering wheel. Like this

Can this be possible in a gs430?? I saw skipper japan makes a kit for the sc430
