Default Problem With Sunroof.....Any Suggestions?

My sunroof started acting up last night and I'm hoping someone has some suggestions on how to figure out what is going on. When I close the sunroof right as it gets to the closed position it reverses and opens up to about halfway. It seems like it is hitting the emergency backup like if something was stuck, but nothing is stuck that I can see. Anyone have an suggestions on what I can try to get it to close?

Mine has done the same thing a handfull of times, but hasn't done it for probably a year or so. I don't know how that sensor works that makes it reverse, but my guess is it intermittently is malfunctioning.

Open it fully, then disconnect the battery for about 10 mins. While waiting, use compressed air (if you have air compresor) to clean the sides of your sunroof. Might be some gunk stuck in there you just can't see. It worked for a friend of mine. Otherwise it might be a malfunctioning sensor. Get ready to open your wallet.

Too much resistance will activate the safety switch and reverse.

You can help it close by pushing it with your hand while it's closing.

The plastic drive chain needs to be cleaned of gunk and re lubricated with proper grease.
I used silicone spray to clean out both sides of the drive chain as best as I could while opening and closing the sunroof and vacuuming the crud that comes off. Then I used a good smelling waterproof grease, again cycling the sunroof to get maximum coverage.

Hope this helps...
Good Luck

I would start with this. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...attle-fix.html. This is the only sunroof DIY I've seen so far. If I were you I would do more seaching by clicking on the SEARCH button in the dropdown blue tabs above. If you did'nt see anything, then you can start a thread asking questions to the whole forum on who's done it before.
