Thumbs up Fixed 'ticking' roof shade problem!

Not sure why this thread was closed, but KILLERGS4 wrote:

My 98 GS4 makes very very small nosie also. But I know where it's coming from. It's my sunroof shade cover. When I drive for 20 minutes or so I hear, then I have to make sure it's closed ALL the way. Then when I drive another 20 minutes or so, I have to do it again. You think Lexus guys can do something to help, I still have warranty left on it.
I said I had the same problem, but I fixed it! I opened the sunroof, took a tiny piece of velcro - just the side with the 'hooks' and stuck it on the front edge of the open roof so that when the roof is closed and shade is brought forward, the fibers of the shade catch the hooks of the velcro. And no more slipping and ticking roof shade!

The TSB is not related to the problem I had. That's related to creaking roof on '98s.

Does anybody actually have a copy of the TSB? I'd like to know what the solution is supposed to be. My sunroof still makes occasional cracking sounds, mostly when it is hot outside (fairly common in the summer in Atlanta ). My last dealer visit on this subject got me a (free) new glovebox, which was nice, but did not exactly fix the sunroof noise.

i had the same problem that bitkahuna is referring to...

the remedy: my dealership actually replaced the entire sunshade assembly under warranty.. No problems thus far..

how much does it cost to fix the sunroof creaking noise? The dealer told me that the TSB just says what to do to fix the problem and the customer is still reponsible for the charges which is around $270? How much did you guys pay or was the problem fixed under warranty? BTW, I have a 98 CPO GS.

thanks

no, as long as it's under warranty they will have to fix it for free
