Default Door Lock Actuator Cable Broken?

I replaced the motor in my passenger front door actuator today. Everything went smooth except the lock still didn't lock using the power lock on the door.

I looked at the door actuator cable and it looks like the black plastic thing is broken in two. Am I correct that the black threaded piece should be connected to the other black piece?

Could this be preventing the lock from locking when I use the power lock?

yes they should be connected. what i did was get a paper clip and wrap it around one piece and wrap it around the other to hold it together. u cant tape it cuz the threads need to go into the grooves on the handle and u cant glue it cuz it will seep in and freeze the metal part that is used to lock and unlock the door. i know it sounds ghetto but a lot cheaper than buying a new one, noone can see it and it works.

Common issue. Just make sure when you crazy glue you don't drip any on the cable itself. You can also use a soldering iron and plastic weld / fuse the two pieces together.

Tried the crazy glue this morning and it didn't hold once I snapped into the slot.

I'm not sure what I need to plastic weld, so I'm going to try the paper clip this afternoon. I think I have an idea of what raceroyce was describing.

Anyone else have any solutions aside from buying a new door actuator?

i used a shrink wrap wire loom and it held for a little while.....ultimately though i had to replace my whole drivers door actuator i did this on because they dont sell the cable separately.

BTW we have discussed all this before your a old member search next time please

I broke mine when installing speakers in the doors, kept the old unit thinking I might put the motor part in the classifieds one of these days since it's still good. Would be alot cheaper for someone with a bad motor.

believe it or not. a fricken paper clip worked. Thanks raceroyce.

I accidentally broke mines today. i bought super glue.......failed. I bought plastic bond.......failed.

went onto Clublexus and searched and found this thread. I read that a paperclip fixed it so I gave it a shot highly doubting it.........and guess what, it does the trick. The lock doesnt feel as solid while locking by hand but it does its job.
