Perplexed... VSC lights & ABS on - No codes coming up
Sup CL??
Had a P0031 code - bank 1 sensor 1 code coming up, got the o2 sensor replaced today... got the car inspected (finally), also had my balljoints and tie rods replaced. Picked up the car and the lights listed in the title are still on.
Took it to advanced auto to run the codes and came up as "Pass - No codes found".. what could be the culprit here? Any info that y'all could share? Do I just have to reset the ECU by detaching the battery for a bit? What else could cause those lights to be on??? Thanks for the wealth of information any of y'all share

How would a code reader form advanced auto read Trans and Abs enhanced codes?
if the light was green/pass they probably ****ed up your sensors. was this a dealer or Pablo at the Corner shop?
LOL...
you went to replace the O2 correct? and also had them do the balljoints and tierods correct? well whoever did the work probably Fubarbed your sensors. you can check the resistance to make sure.
Code readers have red/yellow/green led lights to indicate fail/cycling/Pass

Most auto store places will only carry a generic code reader, even if enhanced it may not pull the ABS/Tranny codes. Some have luck and are able to pull them. the dealer or a high end reader can do this. Who ever did the work should have been able to pull the codes.
supposedly they did test the sensor and what not and determined it was the sensor i advised them of it was oem replacement how could they have messed that up? they were able to inspect it after replacing the sensor. then when i got it the lights were on again... u thinking it could be abs sensor? or speed sensor? something along those lines? last time i had a tranny code - solenoid etc. the reader i used today brought that up last time... idk

well not sure about tranny, but yes it could also be something there. im just going by what you described that was just recently done to the car and how the generic code reader didnt pull any codes. assuming off-coarse you only had the 02 code prior to bringing it in
first clear codes by disconnecting the Neg terminal, then drive it so it will cycle again, see what comes up, if you get a check light run a generic reader and see if it still doesnt pull the codes. if not it may be a Tranny/ABS code.
if the check light comes up, again going by the recent work they may have damaged the ABS/speed sensor while working on the suspension, if its not its just a big coincidence that the tranny solenoid is acting up again

I thought VSC related codes are stored (but turns off the VSC lights on the dash)? Is there a way to clear these codes?
VSC and ABS codes will NOT come up on a regular code scanner.
You need a scanner that can read these codes such as a Snap-On Modis or Lotus or any other higher end diagnostic tool to be able to read and clear. If its an ABS code (which it most likely is) it will not clear unless the problem is fixed, even if the battery is disconnected.

my mechanic has a $10K snap on diagnostics machine, each module costs like $2gs and has to be updated every year or so. its usually a $80 charge to get the codes pulled and cleared.
threre is a thread that i discovered a while back on how to clear Tranny/ABS/VSC type codes thru the OBD/DCL3 port, though i never figured it out some say it works

and ****-adkt I doubt its a solenoid acting up again because when that happened the car was sluggish as hell and I could definitely tell something was wrong with the drivetrain..but who knows. How much does dealer cost to run the codes?
