But has anyone here ever managed to change/get to the ashtray bulb? I am doing my led interior conversion and all I have left to change is that pesky bulb. I searched and could not find anyone who had done it, I just keep ending up as sakataj's super helpful thread. I have not found a way into the darn thing without destroying it altogether. Thanks.

its, easy... i've done it... you have to take apart the ashtray.. its the same bulb as the key ring (t-5)...

did you start from the back of the unit with the screws, by where the plug is, or did you split the case where the light actually is on the front?

 

to be honest, i don't remember... but when i get home tonight i'll let u know... i want to say i think its the back that i started with first.

OK well after struggling with it i finally got it. you go to the underside and you will see two small tabs holding the front door cover on, just pry them up and the front piece will come off and viola! bulb is exposed. thanks for your help john.
