Default Help with gs300 locks.

Well, my1999 gs300 has a lock/unlock problem. Sometimes it locks and sometime it doesnt. I even change the battery for the remote and it still doesnt work.

I was told that it was the body control module. Can anyone firm this?

my locks arent working correctly so i need this.

or maybe something else.. if anyone knows please let me know. Thanks

Its the door lock actuators not the BCM, its gonna be pretty expensive to get them replaced if you don't do it yourself...

Sounds like your actuators are going out. Or maybe the ecu for your wireless alarm (can't recall the correct name). If that's the case, just go with an aftermarket alarm

Which doors are not working? if they all stopped working at the same time it prob isnt the actuators but if they went at diff times its for sure the actuators. Its a very well known problem with this car.

Yeah, it is the actuators..because before i got the car everything works beside the driver door and rear door. And sometimes the driver works... and the passenger side both works. Also it sometimes dont work. Gets so frustrated sometimes

I just looked it up and it says labor is 1 hour per door (I think i might be longer...) but at 4 hours at a low shop rate ($60 per/hr) and the actuators being roughly $200 per actuator...
your looking at $1000+ prob more like 12-1500...BUT I could be wrong, this is just a rough estimate and what a local shop said it would cost to get mine done (ppl I know and with major discounts) was around $900..to me its just not worth it.

That happened to my front passenger side. It wouldn't lock or unlock via remote, only manually. Lexus doesn't just sell the part that went bad, they make you buy the whole assembly. grrrrr...It cost me $350 at the Toyota dealer. They charge much less for labor there than Lexus does.

its rare ALL of them dont work. i might look into the door ecus or BCM first. if you got a local member near you see if they will let you "borrow" theirs long enough to plug them up and see if they work in your car
