Default Power steering pump change

so my pump is leaking and i was wondering when you change it what else should i change too?

i know theres the pump and maybe some crush washers?? not sure. Has anyone changed theirs for the GS400 yet?

HMO, I have not done any work on the PS pump on mine only to flush the fluid and put in the synthetic one. May be other CL's members have. Did you try the DIY links? Keep us update on yours. Thanks and good luck.

i mean ive done it before on my 92 SC400.. its not to difficult but then again im just questioning the high pressure line part since it uses a special type of washer thing... which is iono.. haha the lil hoses just scare me.

kinda off the ? you were asking. i have one off a gs430 vince...i changed it as a precaution when my pulley sheared the threads off the inside of the pulley. i dunno if it will work for you but if it will and you want it, pay the shipping and its yours

If he does not want it, message me. My pump is seeping. I am going to order the rebuild kit and rebuild the one on my car. But I would much rather do it off the car with a second pump as to minimize down time.

im not sure why i gave YOU that offer though lol, nah j/k. think of it as a pay it forward for that simple power steering flush you made

no the pump is fine...it was the teeth on the pulley that were gone.

if the PS pump is still flawless and functional without leaks ill gladly pay for shipping

as far as i know its flawless and functional but i dunno for sure which is why im NOT trying to sell it and im just giving it away + shipping. it was replaced as a precaution...

the 2001+ models didnt leak like you'lls did....you just need to find out for sure if you can use it vince

hmm looks like they use the same pump.. .but im not 100% sure... Kragen (autoparts store) uses the same product number for both pumps. Btw how hard was the install?

also has anyone ever replaced the seals instead of doing a whole replacement?

well i dunno,check on sewells site and see if they use the same pump. i dont see any members chiming in saying you can or cannot use the 2001+ for the V8 on the 1998-2000 V8 model yet...

dunno cjames235 did it...i dont like touching my motor, never really have, probably never will. i TRY to do almost everything else to my car myself though besides motor stuff but lately i havent been

Yes you can use 01-05 gs430 and 01-0? sc430 on 98-00 gs400. I installed a 2004 sc430 unit in mine (98 gs4)like a month ago. Wasn't hard to do. I had to replace my alternator at the same time because the p.s. pump leaked all over it. Just don't bust the little plastic vacuum lines.
