Default 96-97 GS300 better?

I am searching for 93-97 GS300.
I noticed the 96-97 GS has 5 Speed Auto Transmission, is that true? What other major different between 93-95 and the 96-97 model.

Did anyone compare the 93-95 and 96-97 GS 300? Which one is better? I am planning to get the 96-97 but hardly find any in the used market. I think the Lexus owner is very loyal.

one of the few reasons you won't find any is because of the price they were sold as. i think they were sold at around 40,000 for a brand new one and next year a new body was coming out selling at 35,000 thats why the first gen is so rare due to its high price.

the only difference that i know of is the trunk. on the 96-97 the center of the trunk is clear and it says GS300 on the top right corner of the trunk

on the 93-95 its clear in the middle and it says GS300 in the middle.

Do you think is worth to get the 96-97 GS300 with the 5 speed Auto? Or it doesn't make any big differen between the 5 and 4 speed auto transmission?

So you guys mean the 96-97 has a 4 speed with overdrive. And the 93-95 has 4 speed without overdrive?

I did some research for used GS300 and it shows 5 speed auto for 96-97 GS300.

Anyone can able to answer this question?

Check this out

It shows 5 speed automatic with overdrive here for 96 model

Here it shows 4 speed auto with overdrive for 95 model

96-97 GS did have a 5 speed auto, which was used in the GS 400. THe 5 speed made for better gearing, drops about 1sec from 0-60. As Jmai22 noted, the split rear tailights are your only clue. From my understanding they sold only 200 GS in 97?

Thanks for your info.
Since you told me they only sold 200 GS in 97, I think it will be very difficult to find it. I guess I will try to search for the 96 GS300. By the way the 96 GS300 has the similar split taillight as the 97 or it has the clear plastic center with the GS300 word in the middle?

When the GS3 got five gears in 1997, did they change the shifter to a gated shifter, or did they keep the big one?

Ya'll have some good questions. Give me a week to find out the answers (the correct ones). The split lights started in 1996.
