Default Coolant Additive?

Has anyone ever use the coolant additive? Like Redline Oil's WaterWetter? or Royal Purple's Purple Ice?

Any side effect with those product?

Any disadvantage of using those product in NE winter?

Lightbulb Coolant Additive

Yeah, I 've heard of "Red Line Water Wetter", We use it in our old vintage vettes and at the track. But theres absolutly no purpose in putting it in a street car. If you have a new car and it's overheating, then you have a problem. Todays cars have such sophisticated cooling systems that theres no need for that. And plus. the engines are designed to run at a certain temp. if the run hotter or cooler than they should, that will lead to pre-mature engine wear.

MAN stop making me freak out man,, I been trying for ages to drop my engine temp below half way line,,, Using different oils ,, Coolant radiator's and my engine temp is still at half way line ,,

(thou my wated Temp is cooler) and so is my oil

But my engine temp is still half way Grrrrrrrrrrrrr,,

Sorry Shinchan I only know about hot weather coolants ,, I live in the damn desert here man, the cooler the better. no winter advice from me I am afraid ,, thou I hear the Red Coolant is more expensive than the green coolant no idea why.

do u know how big "half" is?? i read a test in a magazine and the half way point was something like 50 - 100 degrees wide before the needle even MOVES!! when u start teh car its cold.. it will go up to half.... and it will STAY THERE!!! it NEVER moves!! i have never seen mine go above half... and it never runs below half unless its in the winter and its warming up... that gauge wont tell u an acurate reading of the actual temps... car manufactures did it so people wouldn't panic is my guess

it needs to be half way, that's the ideal working temperature of your engine aprox 80° Celsius
