There is a way to brace it without losing space by either welding a cross brace to it, or reinforcing it with wood. However a 45lb sub is pretty big, the 13" ed that we fit was only about 25 lbs and there was no evident signs of flexing.
Welding a brace would be the way to go, but again, I wanted to keep my car as stock as I could so out with the IB setup and in with a box.
I was able to mount a 12in JL Audio Free Air sub. I had the audio shop make a custom bracket that mounted on top of the sub. From their, I used bolts and mounted the sub underneath the rear deck. It was a very simple and easy solution to mounting the sub. I don't recall any rattling from the deck.
I don't have any pictures, but if you have any questions about this, PM me.
That is exactly what I'm thinking about. PMing you.
Sakataj that looks sick im bout to change up my setup soon. im gonna take out my sub from the deck and place to dual 12" blaupunkt sub box in my trunk. I was just getting tired of the rattle that happens when my base hits.
well...bumping this, just bought a 12" DLS sub. I need my trunk space back and rarely turn the volume up in the lexus...I'd rather hear the supercharger wine than the bass kick. Hopefully I made a good choice.

Reason: just changed order to a 12" sub.
Does anybody know of a sub that I can drop in without modding anything? I've been driving bass-less for a month now, it's crazy!
have a 10 Alpine sub that dropped in...do have a dedicated amp riding off the factory amp to push the sub. You can see the sub off to the right. I can take another photo of the sub in the deck (this photo was to sell the 4 ch amp)

How heavy is your alpine sub? I'm thinking of putting a 10" sub I have laying around in my rear deck but I think it may be too heavy.

I am thinking of doing this same thing! How does it sound?
