What new features would you want added for future GS oem nav?
For me, I want:
1. Learn mode - there are some routes which I prefer because it's shorter than the nav suggested route. I want the nav to learn or memorize that route.
2. Update button- if you got out of a route due to traffic, etc., I want to press a button ordering the nav to search for a new route immediately rather than waiting for some time for the nav to discover that I've left a route.
3. Another update button - when a street parallels the freeway, sometimes the nav thinks that I am driving on the street and not on the freeway where I am actually on. It takes a while for the nav to realize this and do the adjustment. I want to press a button to let the nav know that I'm on the wrong street.
4. DVD movie playability
5. Auxilliary NAV screen in the instrument cluster where the temp, gas, and shift selector are. The temp and gas gauges can be converted to digital bars and placed on the face of the analog tach. The PRNDL can be moved elsewhere in the instrument cluster.
If the Lexus Nav doesn't already have it, the 3D point-of-view like in the G35 Infiniti ads.
There's a little thumbnail picture of the view on the Infiniti web site.
My #1 complaint about my GS is the inability to reprogram the nav system while in motion. It makes no sense to me that they assume a passenger can't safely do that, especially since other manufacturers allow it. I'm hoping (most likely in vain) that there will be a firmware upgrade in the future that allows this!
Iceman - you nailed it! I get so pissed when I am driving and I can't access my NAV features. It asks me to "AGREE" at the beginning which is enough damn warning for accidents, etc.
I'll bet they will add a reverse camera for the NAV someday. Too many kids getting run over these days, it would be a great feature and something we will start seeing in SUV's and many other vehicles...
