yeah... bring ur registration because you have to be the owner and they cut the key by the VIN#.. and call to confirm that they can cut the key.. cuz some dealerships do not have the machine to cut onsite.

Make sure it is the master key because valet key cannot unlock the trunk.

The trunk release doesn't work when the car is locked. Blew me by surprise, The car is designed to be opened w the key or manually. Nothing electric works from the inside while the car lock mode is engaged.

Wow, good to know.
I was under the impression that the trunk release, in the front dash, was cable, like the hood latch.

That happened to me. I had to order a key and had to pay extra for shipping from Lexus to the dealership overnight. I keep the blade in my wallet now!

it was just the blade with no transmitter. That's all you need to open the trunk. That was back in 2000 though so they might be able to cut one while you wait now.

I don't think that's correct. 1st, If you can get to your rear seat your doors are not locked. 2nd, you can unlock a locked car from the inside can't you, so the locks do work when engaged from the inside. I think you probably have valet lock engaged. My aunt thought her interior trunk release wasn't working until I unlocked it for her. If you can get inside your car, the trunk release lever should work unless you have it locked. If that's case, when you get your keys again be sure to unlock it so your lever works for you next time. The lock is right below the lever. Only master key's engage and disengage it. The purpose was so you could give a valet key to a parking attendant and keep them out your trunk cause only the master key would open it.

Default The trunk has a button that will unlock smart key

If using a smart key, go to the back of the trunk- next to the lift button- probably to the right of this button and underneath the license plate, there is a rectangular button. Push it in and it should unlock. I just locked my keys in my trunk, and this worked. The video here explains it
