In terms of aesthetics and given the wheels are the same width, the one with the lower offsets will "look better." Usually wheels with lower offsets will have a deeper lip (which looks cooler to most and granted it has an outer lip). This is why you see VIP'd cars with such low offsets and wide widths, sometimes offsets are even in the negative.

No. My stock wheels are 17x8 with a +50 offset. When you add spacers, you move the wheel further outside. So you have to subtract 38mm from the rear wheel and 33mm from the front wheel. The wheels will be equivalent to a 17x8 with a +17mm in the front and a 17x8 with a +12mm offset in the rear.

Remember that is without fender mods. With fender mods, you can go even bigger (but I wouldn't recommend it). Just get wheels that fit your car correctly.

looks good
i also have OEM 16" wheels and OEM tire size was 225/55/16 for my gs430, could be different for gs300/400. but since you have 225/55/16, you can easily go with a 20mm spacer in front and a 25mm in rear. those were the spacers i used with the 16" oem setup.

and yes you could push it out to even 30mm up front and 38mm spacers in the rear if you felt the need to.

ok so i finally went and looked at my old rim.

oem 16" rim is 16 x 7 1/2 (i forgot to right down the offset like a dummy but from reading on here it looks like its +55 offset)

so is 20/25mm gonna def do it?

i found this one although he is on 19's it doesnt seem like its 100% in the back but thats ok, it looks better than oem

sakataj, to get them to sit almost flush like the pictures I provided, you will need a 49mm spacer for the rear and a 44mm spacer in the front. It still won't be flush because you are running thinner tires. Time for some wheels, man!

What size are your tires front and rear.

It looks like a nice setup with spacers.
