Default Precut window tint, need your opinion

Hi,

I can have the car professionally tinted, but that would cost me 500 euro (approx. 600 US$). They do excellent work though.

So I'm exploring other options... and found this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Precut window tint kits! Has anyone tried such kits? How is the fit?

I have a friend who does a more than decent job at tinting windows that don't require heat-shrinking (so he could do the sides). And then I can always have the rear window professionally tinted.

Please give your opinion.

Thanks

Around $600 US is more than double what we pay here. From my experience I'm not one to try installing tints again and rather just let the pros do it. If you decide to get the pre-cut tint update us on how that goes.

The precut kit will cost me about 65 - 70 euro shipped. At that price I might as well give it a try.

The seller on eBay is Northern Tint. I googled them and found that their kits are not bad at all. The only thing I'm worried about is the precision of the cut.

I'm hesitating between 20% & 35% tint. What do you guys think?

eh precut tint is so much harder to put on because you have to have it exactly lined up for it to look good. where as a large sheet, you can just cut to fit. instead of buying precut, why not order a roll of tint?

Never really thought about it. I always thought the hard part was cutting the film in the exact same shape as the windows.

I can get a roll of tint at the local auto store, would be even cheaper!

no it would be easier to cut it a tad bigger than the window then when its fitted, you trim it and heat it a tad to get all the water and bubbles out.

Cool thanks for the tip.

I'll see how those rolls are at the store later.

Pre cut tints are great, a lot easier than having to cut. Just gotta be accurate and probably use two people.

Maybe you should buy some cheap tint and try tinting a house window or something to get the method down first. You don't want to get a pre-cut set and have to order a new set because of ruining one piece. Tinting is not hard when you have the method down. I have tinted previous cars and they turned out fine.
