Default Could this part be the problem?!

What's up guys,

I've had a nagging problem with my car for the last 6 months. When I go to start it all i get it is click, click, click. Somtimes it'll start right away other times it'll take 30-40 attempts before it starts. I just had a mechanic friend look at it and he seems to think that it's not the starter. After a few attempts to start he tapped on this part (circled) and it started up. Do you think this could be the culprit?
If so, where's the best place to source this part?

Thanks

Could be but unlikely. Sounds like your starter which is under the intake manifold. P.S you may want to find a new mechanic..

Yeah, I think you're right. I just saw a post on the same exact problem, and it sounds like it could be as little as the contacts on the starter. I convinced my Mechanic (I use the term loosely) to take the starter out so we can test it before I start buying parts I don't need.

it part that you circled is part of the throttle body...not the starter.

Maybe the butterfly valve in the throttlebody gets stuck from time to time (assuming that the tapping on the TB made the car start). Take the throttlebody off and clean it.

I agree.

But like I said, I was assuming that the tapping actually did help start the car.

In that case, he might as well clean the throttlebody, it's a lot easier to take off than the starter (and that's assuming he actually finds it ) and cleaning never hurts.
